Exciting news for UCF football fans as quarterback John Rhys Plumlee has been selected for the prestigious Davey O'Brien Award Watch List. The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is the oldest and most esteemed national quarterback award in college football. This recognition speaks volumes about Plumlee's exceptional talent and skill on the field.

The 47th Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner, where the winner will be honored, is scheduled for Monday, February 19, 2024, at The Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas. It will undoubtedly be an evening to remember, celebrating the best of the best in college football.

Plumlee's outstanding performance last year earned him a spot as a second team American Athletic All-Conference selection. He also received the AAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition three times. In his first season with the Knights in 2022, Plumlee showcased his abilities by throwing for 2,586 yards and 14 touchdowns.

But Plumlee's talents aren't limited to passing. He also dominated the field as a rushing quarterback, leading all FBS quarterbacks in rushing yards with an impressive 861. His 11 rushing touchdowns placed him second in UCF single-season history, just behind Daunte Culpepper's record of 12 in 1998. Plumlee's contributions helped UCF rank ninth nationally in rushing, averaging 228.3 yards per game.

One of Plumlee's standout performances was against Temple, where he completed 18 of 22 passes for a career-high 373 yards and four passing touchdowns. He also showcased his agility and speed by running seven times for 37 yards and three touchdowns. This extraordinary display of skill tied the 35-year-old UCF record for touchdowns accounted for, with seven in a single game.
